Details on Prank Call to Kate Middleton's Hospital

Michael Christian, left, and Mel Greig from Sydney's 2Day FM duped staffers at Kate Middleton's hospital using hackneyed impressions of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles.

NYDailyNews reports: "Somebody at the hospital where Duchess Kate is recuperating is about to get crowned — and not in a good way.
Buckingham Palace was reportedly outraged Wednesday after two Australian shock jocks managed to punk a nurse into revealing that Kate had been “retching.”

“This is a shocking breach of security,” Dickie Arbiter, the Queen’s former flack, told The Daily Mail.
“It simply beggars belief that a member of the public could call up and obtain details of the Duchess’s medical condition in this way.”

The hospital admitted an operator goofed by putting through the call from Mel Greig and Michael Christian of Sydney’s 2Day FM and said its “telephone protocols are now being reviewed.”

Greig and Christian pulled off the stunt by pretending to be Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles.

The clueless nurse told them the royal mom-to-be, who is suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum, a severe form of morning sickness, was feeling better and about to be “freshened up.”

“She’s sleeping at the moment and she has had an uneventful night,” the duped nurse told the duo. “She’s been given some fluids, she’s stable at the moment.”

News: Kate Middleton prank call tragedy

NYDailyNews.com writes: "Saldanha's lifeless body was found the same week she accidentally put prank callers Mel Greig and Michael Christian through to another nurse, who divulged private information about the Duchess of Cambridge. The prank call to the King Edward VII’s Hospital employee infuriated Buckingham Palace and led to taunting tweets from DJs that brag about the trick.

Two Australian disc jockeys got laughs galore when they pretended to be Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles to fool nurses at a London hospital into revealing juicy details about pregnant Princess Kate’s condition.

But nobody was laughing Friday when one of the punked nurses suddenly dropped dead.

While Scotland Yard launched an investigation to determine whether Jacintha Saldanha’s death was a suicide, the dopey deejays were yanked off the air.

Both Kate and her husband Prince William registered their shock as what should be a cause for celebration — the fact that the princess is bearing a possible heir to the British throne — was marred by tragedy.

n a statement, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge said they were “deeply saddened” by the nurse’s death.

St. James Palace, which speaks for William, added that it hadn’t formally complained about the way the hospital handled the hoax, nor did it blame the nurses for the deejays’ sick stunt.

The death of Saldanha, described by friends as a “bubbly,” 46-year-old mother of two, stunned co-workers at King Edward VII’s, a private hospital in the swanky Marylebone neighborhood. Grieving staffers were seen clinging to one another as word of Saldanha’s death spread..."

Kate Middleton Skips Palace Birth

When it comes to giving birth, Kate Middleton will likely follow the example of Princess Diana, who bucked the royal tradition of palace births in favor of welcoming her sons into the world at a hospital.
The Duchess of Cambridge was admitted to King Edward VII Hospital in central London on Monday with hyperemesis gravidarum, an acute morning sickness which requires supplementary hydration and nutrients, the palace said.
"Kate will definitely give birth in a hospital, certainly if she is still enduring complications such as this," said ABC News royals consultant Victoria Arbiter.
"They'll be keen for Kate to get the best care possible because ultimately she is carrying the heir to the throne," she said.
The royals will have to balance security with Kate's medical needs, Arbiter said, and she has several solid choices in London.
Portland Hospital, a plush, private birthing facility that is a favorite of celebrities, such as Victoria Beckham, and the place where William's cousins, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, were born, may be one option.
The hospital boasts four exclusive birthing suites that provide plenty of room for new fathers to stay the night, according to its website.
Having dealt with high-profile deliveries in the past, the hospital said it "pays vigorous attention to the safety and security of our patients and staff," including such measures as issuing security tags to doctors and staff and video cameras throughout the hospital to monitor every movement. With the royal protection team in tow, the precautions may bring some comfort to the royal mother-to-be.
"They'll want to be in a hospital for the best facilities, the best level of care in case any complications arise [since] Kate could be considered a high-risk pregnancy," Arbiter said.
The down-to-earth princess may choose to have her baby in the tried and tested Lindo wing of St. Mary's Hospital in London, where Prince William was born.
The posh, private wing offers birthing suites and doctors with experience caring for "complex pregnancies," according to its website...

"Feeling better", Says Kate Middleton

Kate Middleton was on the mend Tuesday after her second day in a London hospital for severe morning sickness.

With Prince William by her bedside, Kate was recovering from her violent vomiting bouts and “feeling better,” according to a statement from St. James Palace.

The relief was evident on William’s face when he finally left the hospital.
The Duke of Cambridge is “immensely grateful for the good wishes they have received,” his spokesman said.

Prince William leaves the hospital in central London on Tuesday after visiting his wife.

Queen Elizabeth and the rest of the royals found out later Monday after William and Kate raced to the hospital, where the stricken princess was diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum, a malady that affects one in 50 expectant mothers and can turn pregnancy into torture.

Citing royal sources, the Daily Mail reported the Duchess of Cambridge was holding her own “but her symptoms of severe vomiting may last for much of her pregnancy.”

Kate, who is 30 and believed to be about 12 weeks pregnant, was expected to remain in the hospital for several more days followed by a “period of rest” at home. She is reportedly on an IV drip to combat her dehydration and taking pills to stop the nausea.

“When this occurs, the simple treatment is to get fluids into them — and usually they feel considerably better,” Dr. Peter Bowen-Simpkins, medical director at London Women's Clinic, told the BBC.

Reason Why Kate Middleton Captures the World

Who is Kate Middleton? A few years ago she was unknown. She was just another Brit living a normal English life, going to school, wondering what the future may hold for her. Then, she had a chance encounter with a rather well-known fellow Brit by the name of William Arthur Philip Louis Mountbatten-Windsor, and there weren't too many questions anymore. Oh, let's be casual as they seem to like and just call him Prince William, the firstborn of Charles and Diana. No other introduction is needed! The young girl stepped from obscurity into what can already be called history.

Kate Middleton, now officially Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, has captivated the attention of people world-wide. Why? It's very simple, but completely charming. She is the pretty, fresh-faced girl who proves a commoner can still become a princess. Not only a princess, but someday, The Queen of England! That is the stuff fairy tales are made of. What girl, no matter her years, hasn't fantasized of that? From Grimm to Disney, we've delighted in the dreams that made under-the-bed monsters disappear because our heads were filled with castles, white horses, and true love. We all want to live happily ever after. Kate personifies that for us. In this jaded world, we all have hope again. The Legacy of the Queen At first we were enthralled by her mother-in-law, Diana, who breathed life into a stuffy, well-heeled monarchy. Making it more popular than it ever was, we waited for Diana's wedding to Charles, and we all got up in the wee hours of the morning to watch it live on the "telly". Next we waited for the first heir to arrive, and shortly there he was, William and then his brother, Harry. With the heartbreak of the ruined marriage, then the tragedy of Diana's death, much of the magic we so loved to see vanished again from the royal family and our own wishes-upon-a-star.
